I spent six hours at a Senate meeting on Thursday. Then I wanted to die. I'm glad I only ever came within 24% of enough votes to become a Senator. Moreover, I'm glad choice voting wasn't in place at the time, otherwise I surely would have been subjected to 6+ hour Senate meetings for an entire year.

Today (Friday) I went down to the barber in the basement of the MU to get a haircut. When I got down there the guy in the chair was in the middle of saying "have you ever heard of daviswiki.org?" Turns out the individual was JasonAller.
After that I felt like having a hot dog, so I headed over to the Hot Dogger. There I got the "gut bomb," which turned out to be heaping with cheese and beans and peppers and things, and I found to be quite satisfying. I made the mistake of trying to eat it like a normal hot dog at first rather than with knife and fork, but it turned out to be far too messy.
And then I met some local punkish youths who informed me that apparently the Hot Dogger is the place to hang out.

Tomorrow and the next day I will spend nearly all my time at the Model UN conference we are hosting here this weekend.

In Other News: To prove that the Cal Aggie was continually overprinting, local Orwellian Brent Laabs set about collecting the left-over day old aggies at the end of the day. The Aggie retaliated by sending him to Student Judicial Affairs on theft charges. After due consideration, SJA made him sign a contract... to continue the research project.

So yesterday was my birthday. In accordance with tradition I was going to go out to dinner with my best friends, but no one could make it. Probably because I'm seen as something of an ogre or something. But Kristy and her roommate Joe went to dinner with me at Caffe Italia. I got the spicey "Pasta Kabloom," it was good.

Afterwords I planned on chillaxing at Kristy's place and feeling sorry for myself as no one took up my invitation to chillax with us. This self pity plan was foiled however, when my frat-siblings from Phi Alpha Delta began showing up, eventually totalling about a dozen. Other than them, there were the people that lived there, Sashie, Gabi, and three friends of Gabi's (briefly). In conclusion, its a good thing I'm a frat boy now or I'd basically have no friends, basically. (=

In other news: Philip Neustrom has made me obsolete with his new digital SLR camera.
The (new) Secretary General of UCDMUN has resigned, time for another election.
300 protestors have been killed in Uzbekistan. I told you recent events in Kyrgestan would cause unrest in Uzbekistan and Kazahkstan.
On Friday I caught the end of The Deadutants playing on the quad, another show organized by Roxie. Then I participated in this community service thing aimed at getting kids from Davis High hepped up for college. At one point they were supposed to make a poster with the benefits and obstacles of attending college, but my group spent more time drawing pictures of things like darth vader on the poster. I tried to steer them in teh right direction, so I helped add Trogdor to the poster.

Caffiene
Spent all week getting no sleep, writing papers, and drinking excessive amounts of caffiene.
Through extensive experimentation I have determined that quality of caffiene is very important. Instant coffee has significant amounts of caffiene but fries my brain and makes me uselessly jittery. This week I managed to subsist on the high quality caffiene of jolt (thanks to my darling Kristy who was kind enough to go on a jolt run for me), which allowed me to operate in complete disregard for advisable sleeping patterns.

Aaron
Aaron came to town again today and he ate with Kristy and I ate at Murder Burger (AKA Redrum Burger). Kritsy got a hot dog there which looked mad good, I'm gonna have to try it next time.

Then Kristy and Aaron scampered off to Pleasanton (Kristy's hometown, little over an hour away) to party with her friends and ex.
And I'm spending the evening reading.

Azver
"Aaron is like... Kris and Azver's lovechild from the future come back in time to be Kris' best friend" -roommate Jill

I've recently become addicted to this web-comic that Azver showed me when he was here Wednesday night.

Six Months

May. 10th, 2004 03:43 am
aggienaut: (fish)

Saturday was Kristy and I's six month anniversery.

We started out our day at the Farmer's Market at 11am. I had a danish there.
Then we went to the Whole Earth Festival on campus. The denizens of the WEF: they look like hippies, they smell like hippies, but they sure are into capitalism. And the question remains, where do they go at night?

That evening Kristy and I went to the newest (and only one we haven't been to yet) Thai place in town, Thai Bistro. Thai Bistro was ranked best Thai restaurant in town by the Aggie.
Its certainly at the very least a contender with Thai2k, and possibly better.. more research is certainly necessary. For the extremely high quality of the food the prices were very reasonable. I got a calamari dish and I believe it was only around $7.50.
I can't wait till I have an excuse to go again.. hmm it IS my birthday this upcoming Friday...

On that note, it is my 22nd birthday this Friday, May 14th. Having been unable to find a location to host a party on the scale I did last year I don't know what I'm going to do. /=

I have extra tickets to the prescreening of Troy here on Thursday if anyone wants them.

"D" Stands for "Drama"- So I was taking the "D-Line" unitrans bus yesterday morning and doing the only thing worth doing on a bus -eavesdroping- and it was a bit interesting. First this guy and this girl boarded the bus and from their body language it was just SO apparent that the girl wanted the guy and the guy wasn't having it. Not just like she liked him but she was familiar with him -- like they'd gotten their groove on. So she's all standing next to him and got her hand on his arm or back or something the whole time.. whereas HE has his hands on the rail or in his pocket the whole time.. at at least two points in shifting around he came up with nowhere to put his hand, where the obvious choice was holding her hand which was just waiting for him, but nope its back into the pocket. It was kinda sad actually.
And then there was Alex the Sorority Girl sitting next to me. She was talking to her friend about this guy she had been kinda dating or something, but hadn't talked to in two weeks because he didn't return a number of calls. And then... then her friend is like "oh I hung out with him last weekend." Alex: "he wasn't in town last weekend though." dun dun dun!

In other news, this morning I became officially astounded by my apartmentmate Steve's prodigious ability to ALWAYS be in the shower when I wake up and stumble towards it.. no matter WHAT tiem that may happen to be. Along a similar magick vein, the aforementioned Alex the Sorority Girl has a similar ability to be on ANY bus at ANY time that I happen to be taking. Its even more unlikely than Steve's shower taking, since the latter only varies by say two hours generally but we are talking ANY bus at ANY time.

So yea, yesterday was my 21st birthday. I am for stoked. Kristy, Christie, Courtney, Angie, Garian, Russ, and Renry took me out to Fuzios, which was rawsome. Being the shameless eating machine that I am, after I finished my firecracker pork fusilli and proceeded to finish Angie's pod thai and Kristy's salad of some kind. It was for awesome, thanks guys. And then Courtney the Sorority Girl got me a whole bunch of DC cookies. Yay.

In summary: There are now FIVE bands booked for my party on Saturday and if you're not going you will bring shame upon your descendants for generations to come.

Ate at Fuzios with me mum.. then had cake at aunt and uncles. Tomarrow morning mother goes back home via train

Party at The List House / "The Loyola House" / that place really needs a name. I think its the third time now I've been at a party there... at least three times. Both Eric and Sue are down with my plot to have a massive Krispalooza there on May 17th to celebrate my May 14th 21st birthday. This party was pretty mellow, especially compared to the 200 person 8 band Sachipalooza which was there last time. Pretty much all the regular people were there.. and not overly many less regular people, so it was just kinda like... the scensters kickin it together.
I of course drew a large snail on the whiteboard, as is tradition. Later on I found that someone had written "EMOSNAIL" next to it. I made some joke about livejournals to someone else I didn't know later by the bonfire, and she was like "oh you have a livejournal? Whats it called?" "emosnail" "oh YOU'RE emosnail."

Earlier I updated the "Mallet Cadence" poem, because in its previous form it wasn't really written to be a poem, but kinda had the makings of one. So I hammered it into a more poetic form, but its still relevant to last quarter when it was written; ie my room is no longer THAT cold (still gets rather cold though) and I no longer have the schedule from hell, but anyway...

MALLET CADENCE II
   Terminally emo,
   Optimistically defiant,
   Reason and Logic,
   My weapon my shield.

   Schedule from hell,
   Freezing room,
   These more indomitable,
   These my defeat,
   Red glow my retreat.

I also highly recommend checking out "Roxy" by Diane (roxymartini), Annie's cousin and someone who knows my brother Tobin. Craziness.

I am also now the representative of the Aardvarkia region in the UN at nationstate.net. Muahahaha.

After having BBQ Pork something at Fuzios, which looked suspiciously similar to the Pod Thai that Antoinette got, and wasn't as good as my usual Firecracker Pork Fusilli (AKA the best dish EVER, ANYWHERE), we went to the show at Delta Venus. Squish the Bad Man, Estereo, and Radio Cure were playing there. Not my usual kind of music, but it was cool. I really liked the last group. My friend Annie was in Estereo, and Arjun and Eric from The List were there.
We ended up not going to the movie we had been planning on seeing and just stayed at Delta Vee until the end of the show.

After all that was over and Antoinette had dispersed I got myself over to Tamera's party. Now Tamera has a well established precedent of having good parties; the kind of parties where there's a finite number of friends who pretty much all know eachother and we just ahve us a good ole time. But this one.. I don't know, something had gone terribly wrong. Everyone knew it had, even and especially Tamera I think. Through some connection of one of her housemates every wanna-be gangster from Davis High was at that party. It was.. ghetto. I think we were all relieved when the cops broke up the party.
Of course several of the most infamous people in Davis were there, like Mike Dugas, who in accordance with party tradition found himself shirtless, and the Freshman, who has somehow managed to endear himself to many people but I think if it were up to me I'd still put him in the Soviet Lubyanka for several months and forcefully instill some social skills. And then there was The British Guy. Silly British guy. And of course everyone's favorite individual of Greek derivation, Sarah was there.

Today I am going to try to actually get an issue of the Chosen Echidna out. I thiink I'm on issue 11 now.. or maybe 12.. its been like freakin three months. If yahoogruops has closed down the newsletter for inactivity I swear I'm going on a killing spree. Anyway, first I need to add all people that have acrued in the last three months to the newsletter list, and then I need to edit it all together.. and.. yea.
But first I think I'm going to draw a snail on my wall.

And in accordance with tradition I apparently have to make a reference to Vanessa at least once per entry so uhh.. she didn't go out Saturday night as far as I know. Thats not very cool now is it Vanessa. (=

Oh and at the party Lindsy, having consumed indeterminate amounts of alcohol, and with an amiable smile, said to me "Kris you know I think your an asshole and want to go off at you," to which I replied "yes, Lindsy, I do," similarly smiling and friendly. And I think it was the most sincere thing I've ever heard anyone say.. when people are saying GOOD things, even if they think they mean it, so often they are exagerating, underagerating, or similarly misrepresenting their feelings.. so yea.. it was beautiful. I think any claims she may have against me are largely related to the AMIJ Incident.
